Fun facts
Cameroon, located in West Africa, is fondly referred to as the “Africa in miniature” because the country is the home for more than 200 different groups of people divided by linguistics and ethnics. Furthermore, the climate and the geographical location of the country is a mirror for the typical climate you find in any place across the continent of Africa. Rich hunters from all over the world fly to Cameroon, risking malaria, fularia and any other tropical disease you can contemplate, just to shoot an antelope know as the Bongo. The former French Cameroon and part of British Cameroon merged in 1961 to form the present country. Cameroon has generally enjoyed stability, which has permitted the development of agriculture, roads, and railways, as well as a petroleum industry. Despite movement toward democratic reform, political power remains firmly in the hands of an ethnic oligarchy. Because of its oil resources and favorable agricultural conditions, Cameroon has one of the best-endowed primary commodity economies in sub-Saharan Africa.
